What is a "sale" on my Itasca statement?

If I am using Itasca for print distribution to the trade, what counts as a sale?

Orders from vendors will appear on your Itasca statements as sales.

But sales to vendors, especially wholesalers, do not necessarily represent sales to the book-buying public, because vendors/wholesalers/retailers order books in anticipation of buyers.

If the vendor/wholesaler/retailer does not sell the book, they will be returned.
